Fatal accident at Anglo American Platinum in Limpopo─── 09:21 Fri, 29 Apr 2016
Amandelbult - Anglo American Platinum in a statement today confirmed the death of two miners at the Tumela mine at Amandelbult in Limpopo on Tuesday 26 April 2016.
After 347 days without a loss-of-life at the Company’s operations, the two employees were fatally injured in an incident involving a winch rope.
Anglo American Platinum CEO, Chris Griffith, commented; “Our sincerest condolences are with the families, friends and colleagues of all involved in this terrible incident who we are assisting and supporting at this very sad time."
Griffith went on to say that "as is the case following such incidents, an independent and comprehensive process is under way" to make sure the circumstances surrounding the accident are understood and that "we learn from them to create an ever safer work environment for our people.”
