Glen Agliotti house arrest lifted─── 11:53 Thu, 05 Aug 2010

Johannesburg - Murder accused Glenn Agliotti is no longer under house arrest. Judge Frans Kgomo set new bail conditions in the High Court in Johannesburg, which excludes having him house bound. Bail was still kept at R200,000. Agliotti is to report to a new investigating officer, must be contactable on his cellphone at all times, must attend court, and may apply for new travel documents or travel outside the country with the investigating officer's written permission. Before the ruling was handed down, Agliotti's counsel Laurence Hodes argued that it was "unconstitutional" to keep Agliotti under house arrest for four years. He described the State's bid to keep Agliotti house-bound as "malicious". Former security boss Clinton Nassif has meanwhile returned to the witness stand after five gruelling days under cross-examination.
