Three people have died in two separate accidents on the Aberdeen road in the Eastern Cape early this morning. Provincial health department spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo says in one accident, two people died in a head-on collision between a taxi and a 22-seater bus. He says the taxi was travelling from the Transkei to Cape Town. Both the driver and the passenger died on the scene. The 18 people travelling in the bus were taken to the Aberdeen hospital. In the second accident, on the same road, one person died and three were injured when a sedan overturned. Kupelo says the Aberdeen hospital had been dealing with many casualty cases as the road had been very busy with people travelling between Cape Town and the Transkei. Thirty four people have been taken to hospital in the area since Sunday.
