COLUMN: A delay is not a denial | News Article
Fannie Zim

Often times we can't help it but feel like something we're pursuing in life is just taking too long to happen.

Be it achieving those New Year's resolutions; meeting Prince Charming/your soulmate; losing weight; driving that dream car... the list is endless. However, the sad reality in life is that; things don't and won't always happen when we want them to, but they happen and will happen in their own perfect time. Ours is to know, understand and always remind ourselves that A DELAY IS NOT A DENIAL.

Sarah was 90-years-old when she gave birth to Isaac. It took Fannie Zim 6 years to get a 4-year law degree. Just when a cocoon thought its life was over; it turned into a butterfly. All the above cases indicate and point out one thing in life; a delay is not a denial. However, it's the challenges faced, rough patches trudged through and the amount of time it's taking for us to get/achieve what we want in life, that makes us feel like we have been waiting for so long and nothing seems to be coming alright. But more painful, is the reality of waiting for something that you don't know exactly when it will happen. You wake up every day, faithfully and hopefully pursue your endeavours, believing that soon enough, you will get what you want. And when that doesn't happen within the time frame you had hoped it could happen; we can't help it but feel down, think of quitting/throwing in the towel... but because the One who promised us is faithful; I say to you... hold on! Your breakthrough is just around the corner. You have held on for so long and come too far to give up now. You're not being delayed as a way of you being denied the things you desire and wish for in life, however, you are delayed so that you can become a better, wiser and greater person who can handle, appreciate and make the best out of whatever it is that you're pursuing.

My belief in life is that sometimes God will prepare you before He blesses you. He will tune, bring and fine out of you, a person you need to be before He pours out His glorious blessings unto you. You are in the preparation phase right now, you have already sweated, suffered and bled, so why quit just as you are about to get a reward for your sufferings?! The mere fact that it's not happening right now, doesn't mean it won't happen or that it's not supposed to happen. The mere fact that it's taking some time to happen, doesn't mean it will take forever to happen or that you will wait in vain. In the mean time; when the delay gets tough, yours is to toughen up and get tougher. When the wait gets hard, yours is to get harder. If the road you are on right now is bumpy; don't turn back, fasten the safety belt and set your mind and eyes on the glory that awaits you at the end of that road.

After all; it was a wise man who once said: "Great things takes time". If it's greatness that we really desire in life, as we rightfully know that we are destined for greatness; then it means we must be strong and hold on to the fact that a delay is not a delay. Hold on to the promise that God made to us when He said to us: "When the time is right, I the Lord, will make it happen - Isaiah 60:22". If it hasn't happened/it's not happening, it means the time isn't right as yet for it to happen. So wait patiently for your time; upon your season of divine overflowing blessings... for God's timing is always perfect.

Today being a CHOOSEDAY; I challenge you to CHOOSE to always remind yourself that; "A DELAY IS NOT A DENIAL".

Happy CHOOSEDAY!
