5 killed in NW accident─── 05:47 Tue, 02 Apr 2013
Sun City - Five people were killed when a drunk driver hit them yesterday in Ledig village outside Sun City in North West. Simon Mmope, spokesperson for the provincial department of human settlements, public safety and liason said the five were thought to be between the ages of 21 and 30. He said the 35-year-old driver was arrested after the 4am accident and is expected to appear in the Mogwase Magistrate's Court today on charges of culpable homicide and drunken driving. The accident brought the death toll on North West roads to 16 since the beginning of the Easter long weekend. On Sunday, Mmope said 11 people were killed on the province's roads.
