Arlington - A farmer's wife sustained slight injuries during a robbery on a farm near Arlington last night.

Free State police spokesperson, Zweli Mohobeleli, says it is alleged that three men hid inside the garage at the house. They overpowered the victim, who returned from town, as she parked her car inside the garage at about 19:30.

The woman was forced inside and ordered to open a safe. He says she was tied up. The suspects took a pistol out of the safe. They fled the scene on foot. A member of the public saw them as they were running away and alerted police who reacted swiftly. Two suspects were arrested.

According to Mohobeleli a third suspect, who is still on the run, is believed to be in possession of the stolen firearm. The arrested suspects will appear in the Arlington Magistrate's Court soon.

Mohobeleli says the woman received treatment at a nearby hospital.
