Conspiracy Corner – Frozen Fish Pulls a Lazarus─── 08:00 Thu, 02 Oct 2025

While making dinner, a man in China literally watched his dinner come back to life!
In today’s episode of “Please Do Not Try This at Home,” a viral clip shows a gent plucking a fish-sicle from the freezer, plopping it into a bowl, and after a suspenseful pause and a few fizzy bubbles boom, Nemo starts doing laps. The original post (by Jinbin Huang on Facebook) racked up tens of millions of views and sparked a school of hot takes: half the internet yelled “fake,” the other half said, “Seen it ice-fishing, bru.” (The Independent)
So, is it real? Kinda-sorta-maybe. Some species shrug off near-freezing temps like Bloemfonteiners in shorts during a cold front, and yes, some creatures can thaw out and carry on, though that’s not your average slap-chip hake.
More likely, the fish wasn’t fully frozen solid, and a warm bath simply jump-started a very chilly nap.
(Science buzzkill corner: a few fish and other tough customers can handle freeze-thaw, but it’s not a party trick for your pet goldie.) (IFLScience)

Public service announcement from The Joyride: do not put your koi in the deep freeze to “test a theory.” And no, this won’t work on your leftovers, your houseplants, or your Monday motivation.
Until we can defrost our willpower the same way, we’ll settle for defrosting our laughs. Got a weirder clip? Send it our way; if it swims, blinks, or bubbles back to life, we’re on it.
