Cheetahs call on home support for Pro14 derby─── MORGAN PIEK 16:11 Wed, 17 Jan 2018
The Toyota Cheetahs have called on their support to come out in their numbers during their Guinness Pro14 derby against the Southern Kings on Saturday.
The Cheetahs lead the best of three contests 1-0 after a somewhat dramatic 45-21 win over the Kings in Port Elizabeth.
A win this week will see the side being crowned the unofficial South African Pro14 champions.
The coach Rory Duncan has urged the Cheetahs faithful to come and support the boys on Saturday.
“It’s actually the South African derby that we are going to have on home turf. It’s a great one for our supporters to come out and watch.
“Someone mentioned that we are fighting for bragging rights to be the South African champions in Pro Rugby, so we urge the supporters to come out this weekend and back the team.”
Saturday’s derby at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 17:00.
Meanwhile, the Cheetahs will be having their annual awards function on Tuesday evening and this will include awards for the Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, as well as Currie Cup and Super Rugby Players of the Year.
Follow @OFMSport on Twitter for the winners as they are announced.
