Stormers thump Scarlets for second clean sheet─── MORGAN PIEK 09:07 Sat, 11 Oct 2025

The Stormers made a statement at Parc Y Scarlets in Llanelli on Friday night, cruising to a commanding 34-0 bonus-point victory over the Scarlets to open their three-match European tour in style.
It was another dominant defensive display from the Cape Town outfit, who recorded their second clean sheet after shutting out Leinster 35-0 in round one and beating the Ospreys 26-10 in the second round in Cape Town. The result reinforced their United Rugby Championship title credentials as they outmuscled and outclassed their Welsh hosts.
Boosted by the return of Springboks Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu at flyhalf and Damian Willemse at fullback, the visitors were in control from the outset. Their set-piece was particularly effective, while Scarlets’ high penalty count and lack of composure under pressure cost them dearly.

Evan Roos opened the scoring in the 10th minute, driving over from a powerful maul for his fourth try of the season. Feinberg-Mngomezulu added the conversion and slotted a penalty soon after for a 10-0 lead.
Despite some missed opportunities and a yellow card to Ben-Jason Dixon, the Stormers extended their advantage before half-time when Paul de Villiers crashed over from another lineout maul. Feinberg-Mngomezulu converted to give the visitors a comfortable 17-0 lead at the break.
Scarlets started the second half with more possession and territory but failed to capitalise. Even when the Stormers went down to 14 men again – this time Feinberg-Mngomezulu was shown yellow – the South Africans maintained control. Lock Ruben van Heerden powered over from close range to make it 24-0, with Willemse adding the extras.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu made amends for his time in the sin bin by pouncing on a loose ball to score the bonus-point try. Replacement scrumhalf Imad Khan then sealed the result late on, darting over from the base of a dominant scrum to complete the rout.
The victory marked another statement performance from John Dobson’s side, who have yet to concede a point in two matches. Their set-piece dominance, disciplined defence, and finishing power up front once again underlined why they remain one of the URC’s most consistent and feared teams.
