SAHRC after #Agrizzi over racism─── 07:00 Thu, 31 Jan 2019
The South African Human Rights Commission is taking Angelo Agrizzi to court over his racist tirade.
On Tuesday, Agrizzi concluded his testimony at the state capture inquiry by admitting he's a racist.
"We can't stand by and have Mr Agrizzi use these kinds of terms in relation to other human beings and just leave it as be; it needs to go to the Equality Court so it can be heard and dealt with in the appropriate manner," said Communications Co-coordinator for the SAHRC, Gushwell Brooks.
"We can't live in a society where we make admissions of our wrongs and do not atone for it in any way. I can't come out and say that I'm sexist or that I prejudiced towards particular groups and just accept that based on my confession of those particular prejudices the debt should go unscathed," Brooks said.
Brooks stated that there is room for forgiveness and atonement should a person express remorse and a willingness to change.
