Nersa to decide on Eskom's 15% hike request─── 08:26 Thu, 07 Mar 2019
Nersa is expected to make an announcement on Thursday if South Africans will be paying more for electricity.
Consumers could pay 15% more for electricity if the Energy regulator grants Eskom the increase it's asking for.
The tariff increase, if granted, will come on the back of a hefty petrol price hike this week, placing a further burden on already struggling consumers.
The announcement follows months of public hearings all over the country.
Most of the submissions made at the hearings were by business and community representatives, who urged Nersa to reject Eskom's request.
They argued that jobs, economic growth and investment would be at risk.
