Sassa changes payment schedule to accommodate special voters

Sassa has announced that beneficiaries who were meant to collect their grants in cash from cash points paid by the Post Office are notified that the cash payments that were scheduled for Monday, 6 May, have now been rescheduled to Saturday 11 May.

This is according to a statement issued by the agency, which explained that this is owing to the fact that Monday 6 May is a day set aside for special voters and the community halls which are normally used for the cash payments of Sassa beneficiaries will now be required as voting stations by the IEC. This schedule change will affect only cash payment beneficiaries and beneficiaries will also be able to withdraw their grants at any Post Officer counter for free.

The Sassa card can also be used at any ATM or swiped to pay for shopping at retailers. Transactions at retailers are also without any transaction fees. Sassa beneficiaries affected by this change can also collect their grants at their normal paypoints on 11 May 2018 at the time communicated, which will be the same time as that communicated for the 6th May 2019. Sassa requests that OFM listeners please share this information with all the people in its network that may be affected by this development and furthermore, apologises for any inconvenience caused by this late inconvenience.
