NC MEC responds to accident involving patients | News Article

Northern Cape Health MEC, Fufe Makotong, sent out speedy recovery wishes to the 18 patients who were involved in an accident between Aggeneys and Poffader earlier this week.

The patients were travelling with an EMS patient transport vehicle and were on their way to Kimberley when the accident happened. The driver of the vehicle reported that the accident was caused by a strong whirlwind.

Police spokesperson, Sergio Kock, reported that the accident happened while the patients were on their way from the Namaqualand region where they were due to receive treatment.

He says eight patients were discharged after being assessed by medical doctors, while 11 patients and the driver were reported to be in a stable condition.

They were all admitted in hospitals in Springbok and Kimberley. Patients who were discharged and sent home were visited by provincial health officials as well as those who are being treated in the Robert Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley.
