EFF loses appeal bid in Manuel defamation case─── 12:23 Tue, 18 Jun 2019
The Economic Freedom Fighters' application for leave to appeal the ruling in the Trevor Manuel defamation case has been dismissed by the Gauteng High Court on Tuesday.
Manuel won his defamation case against the EFF in May. The party’s comments about the links between SARS boss Edward Kieswetter and Manuel were found to be false and defamatory.
The red berets were ordered to apologise to Manuel and to remove the statement containing false claims from all their media platforms.
The EFF made accusations of nepotism against Manuel in March in relation to the new South African Revenue Service Commissioner Edward Kieswetter.
In a statement, the party claimed that the two men are related and have a close business relationship.
