The National Department of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation says the provision of houses for veterans will now be up for discussions at meetings for Ministers and provincial MECs. 

It further acknowledges - in an answer on a written question in parliament – that the slow pace of the programme is a concern. 

The department says in most cases the beneficiary lists in provinces are being disputed and where they went ahead with construction without an approved list, some of the veterans, who do not qualify as beneficiaries, invaded the houses.
