Suspected drug dealers arrested in North West─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 11:19 Sun, 24 Nov 2019
North West Police Commissioner, Baile Motswenyane, has sent a stern warning against any criminal activity in the province and warned against possession of illegal firearms.
This, as three suspects allegedly involved in the hiding of three hunting rifles, one pistol, one pistol magazine and 44 ammunition in a shack in Blydeville outside Lichtenburg are expected to appear before the Lichtenburg Magistrate Court, tomorrow.
The trio was arrested on Friday following a tip off that the suspects were conspiring to commit a house robbery at one of the farms in Coligny.
Police Spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says initially nothing was found in the suspects’ vehicle, but upon searching the shack where the suspects were hiding the firearms and ammunition were found.
He said in a statement that preliminary investigation into the matter has revealed that the firearms were allegedly stolen during a house robbery back in July at a farm in Bospoort.
Motswenyane added that the removal of firearms from the wrong hands will further reduce violent crimes often committed during the festive season.
