NW police urge public to be careful with fireworks─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 11:48 Tue, 31 Dec 2019
With a few hours left till 2020, North West police wish to remind members of the public to exercise extra caution when handling fireworks.
Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone says various local municipalities have specific by-laws that dictate the usage of fireworks and community members must be aware of these by-laws.
He says it is illegal to make use of fireworks within 500 metres of a petroleum depot or an explosives factory.
The public is further reminded to ensure their children are extra vigilant when handling fireworks.
Animal rights activists have long been critical of firework displays, in light of the effects they have on animals.
This hasn’t quite dampened New Year celebrations over the years.
