Gauteng Health ‘happy’ with #Coronavirus facilities─── 12:29 Tue, 10 Mar 2020
Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku is confident that his department has the necessary capacity to deal with any outbreak of coronavirus.
Masuku addressed the media in Johannesburg on Tuesday following Premier David Makhura’s State of the Province Address last week.
“Yes, we are confident in our institutions. Remember that we cannot prepare for capacity that we are envisaging. We are happy with the facility at Charlotte (Maxeke Hospital). We are happy with the facility at Tembisa and we are happy with the facility at Steve Biko,” he said.
Gauteng recorded its first case of coronavirus on Sunday.
A 29-woman tested positive after coming into contact with one of the South Africans who went on a ski trip to Italy.
A teacher from Grayston Preparatory School in Sandton has also been quarantined after she came in contact with the group of 10 travellers.
The school was subsequently shut down on Monday.
Seven of the 10 South Africans who went on the ski trip have tested positive for coronavirus.
