The Gazetting of the reopening was announced by the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, on Tuesday. 

He says the department has approved this sectors’ reopening following consultations with the cabinet member responsible for health. 

Mthethwa says the sector will operate under amended procedures. This includes a limitation in operating hours, a capacity of not more than 50 people, and compliance with the health and safety protocols. He also urges all the institutions of arts and culture to submit their plans in accordance with the outlined processes and protocols in writing within two weeks from now.
