#Covid19: Ramaphosa vows to tackle corruption─── 10:23 Sun, 02 Aug 2020
It's immoral that people are trying to use the COVID-19 health crisis, to unlawfully enrich themselves.
That's the view of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
He released a statement after South Africa reached 500,000 coronavirus infections.
Ramaphosa promised to investigate all reports of alleged corruption and irregularities in the dispensing of COVID-19 relief funds.
There's been an uproar after a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) tender scandal in Gauteng laid claims against high ranking government officials.
He also says the country is preparing for the COVID-19 peak.
Meanwhile, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has not yet interviewed the presidency spokesperson Khusela Diko.
This comes after she and her husband were embroiled in corruption allegations regarding a PPE tender.
