‘ANC not homogenous’ - Mahumapelo─── LUCKY NKUYANE 12:44 Sat, 14 Nov 2020
The former North West premier, Supra Mahumapelo, a close ally of ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule, says the ANC is not a homogenous party and will always have different opinions.
The ANC has been riddled by factional battles since at least 2007, when former President Jacob Zuma took the ANC presidency from then-president Thabo Mbeki at the 52nd ANC conference in Polokwane.
Mahumapelo, who was among at least 10 ANC heavyweights present at the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Friday in support of Magashule, says the different opinions within the party are not much to worry about.
The charges brought forward by the Hawks against Magashule have been described as politically motivated and aimed at destroying those who allegedly want to advance the so-called Radical Economic Transformation (RET) agenda.
Magashule on Friday appeared in court in connection with the 2013/14 controversial asbestos housing audit deal that ran into the hundreds of millions of rands,
He was released on R200 000 bail, with the case postponed to 19 February 2021.
Magashule himself has on several occasions said that the African National Congress has been infiltrated by what he terms "Impimpis" which can be loosely translated as snitches.
