South Africans have until Sunday to hand in unlicensed firearms to police without getting arrested.
The fire amnesty commenced on 1 August 2020.
So far over 46,000 guns and almost 120,000 rounds of ammunition have been handed in.
Some of these firearms were destroyed on Thursday.
Nearly 10,000 firearms were surrendered during the previous firearm amnesty between December 2019 and May 2020.
