President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver the address on Thursday under a myriad of challenges facing the country. This will be his first since the outbreak of the Coronavirus in March, last year.

On Wednesday, the presiding officers told the media that a few members will physically be in the sitting while others will join virtually, to observe Covid-19 restrictions.

Parliament Speaker, Thandi Modise, says they will hold a candlelight memorial for Covid-19 victims after the address. Modise said R100 000 has been budgeted for the memorial while another R100 000 will be spent on virtual costs.
