#Eskom CEO: Load-shedding for next 5 years─── 05:16 Tue, 16 Mar 2021
South Africans should brace themselves for more load-shedding over the next five years.
Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter says the power utility will have a shortfall in electricity supply and that old power stations are the main reason for the blackouts. "Eskom has to reiterate, there will be a shortfall in supply of electricity of approximately 4000 megawatts over the next five years as announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa," says De Ruyter.
"We welcome further interventions announced by the President, which will include a further request for proposal for further 2600 megawatts from wind and solar energy," he adds.
Eskom announced Stage 2 load-shedding will continue until Wednesday.
