Police in Gauteng have arrested a man on the province’s ‘most wanted' list.
The 31-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in Mamelodi in Tshwane.
The suspect is believed to be a member of the notorious Boko Haram gang, allegedly responsible for a string of robberies, extortion, intimidation, and other serious and violent crimes in Mamelodi and surrounding areas.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says the man is also believed to have been involved in a chain store robbery in Mamelodi where an undisclosed amount of cash and groceries were taken.
“The Provincial Police Commissioner in Gauteng has welcomed the arrest of this suspect and commended the police team that worked so hard to ensure that this most wanted suspect is behind bars,” said Masondo.
The suspect is expected to appear at Pretoria Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
