#FuelPrice: 'Find a lasting solution' says AA─── 07:53 Wed, 01 Jun 2022
From Wednesday, motorists will be paying the highest price for fuel the country has ever seen.
Petrol has gone up by R2.43 for 93 and R2.33 for 95.
The Automobile Association says it's time government comes up with a lasting solution.
It believes the Road Accident Fund is the place to start.
"You can't cut the fuel levy and expect [the] government will be happy with losing billions a year. The alternative is another funding mechanism which is not really going to solve the problem," said the AA's Layton Beard.

"The Road Accident Fund can also be looked at and needs more attention. RAF is poorly managed. With those types of interventions, we can deal better with the RAF."
"We can't just scrap the general fuel levy, that may bring further problems down the line. It's not going to be sustainable. All role players need to be involved and government needs to initiate all of this as in yesterday," he said.
