Authorities say there are two more outstanding arrest warrants in connection with the Transnet locomotives fraud and corruption case.

The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) says Salim Essa and Ashok Narayan are currently out of the country.

On Monday, Transnet's former executives, Brian Molefe and Anoj Singh appeared in court in Gauteng, along with former directors at Regiments Capital Niven Pillay and Litha Nyhonhya.

They face charges of contravening the Public Finance Management Act, money laundering and corruption. They have each been granted bail of R50 000.

"Today's arrest and court appearance of additional senior executives reflects a significant milestone and outcome of our complex investigations," says the NPA's Investigating Directorate spokesperson, Sindisiwe Seboka.

"We, in collaboration with the Hawks, will ensure that we continue to follow the evidence and arrest and prosecute those who are pointed out to have been alleged to be part of looting the state coffers."

All of the accused are expected to return to court on 14 October.
