President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation on Sunday evening.

Ramaphosa’s speech to the nation is expected to focus on his response to the recommendations of the commission of inquiry into state capture.

Saturday was D-day for Ramaphosa to submit his action plan to Parliament on the commission’s recommendations.

Ramaphosa was legally obligated to table former Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo’s report and his plans within four months of receiving the scathing report into the criminal network.

“The 76-page document sets out the approach to the commission’s findings and recommendations, the methodology for developing the response plan and the implementation of the response,” read a statement issued by the Presidency on Saturday evening.

Ramaphosa will also convey “reforms to prevent future occurrence of state capture” following the damning findings.

While his speech will focus on restoring confidence and the actions against the perpetrators of state capture - South Africans will be seeking clarity on how long the energy crisis will prevail.

Several interventions have been announced including securing additional generation capacity from independent power producers and allowing municipalities to generate their own power.

However, despite these and others, Eskom has implemented the worst bout of load-shedding in recent memory.
