It has been 51 years since the AmaZulu nation last saw a king being crowned.
A 21-year-old prince at the time, Goodwill Zwelithini, was crowned as the eighth monarch.
Now King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, who is 48 years old, takes over the throne as the 9th King.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will present a certificate of recognition to his majesty on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium - a historical moment, according to historian Pitika Ntuli.
