The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa's (Prasa) board has placed former acting CEO David Mphelo on suspension amid allegations of irregular recruitment practices.
The entity received a report into the allegations on Wednesday.
The allegations include irregularities in recruitment and procurement.
"Given the gravity and seriousness of the allegations, the board resolved that it is in the best interest of Prasa that Mr Mphelo be placed on suspension with immediate effect pending investigations.
“Prasa board will not communicate any further in respect to this matter until the due process has been completed,” says the entity’s spokesperson, Andiswa Makanda.
