This comes after a gathering of political figures, the National Energy Crisis Committee, and the Eskom board last Sunday.

For over a week, South Africans have been subjected to rolling blackouts with power outages as severe as Stage 6.

Blackouts are now at Stage 3 this weekend.

This week, Eskom officials were supposed to provide an update on the grid's condition, but they cancelled it when they entered urgent conversations with the government.

Political parties and business leaders are suing the electricity company over the escalating harm that the devastating outages are causing.
