Bloemfontein Celtic are looking forward to facing Mamelodi Sundowns again this weekend – this time in the final of the prestigious Telkom Knockout Cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Celtic dramatically beat defending champions, Orlando Pirates, in the quarter-final of the tournament in Bloemfontein, and then went on to defeat Free State Stars at the Charles Mopedi Stadium in the semi-finals. Celtic captain, Thabo Nthethe, says coach Clinton Larsen, has chosen his strongest possible team for the clash.
Sundowns beat Siwelele 1-nil in a Premiership clash last weekend. But Nthethe says this defeat won’t negatively affect his team ahead of Saturday’s final.
The Telkom Knockout is the most highly paid Cup competition in Africa, with the winner receiving R4.25 million. All sixteen of South Africa’s Premier League teams participate in the tournament. Saturday’s final kicks off at 20:15.
