Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) clinched their first-ever Uefa Champions League title in spectacular fashion, by thrashing Inter Milan 5–0 in the 2025 final at Munich’s Allianz Arena on Saturday night (31/5).

This historic victory not only marked PSG’s maiden European crown, but set a new record for the largest winning margin in a Champions League final.

Under the guidance of manager Luis Enrique, PSG delivered a masterclass in dominance. Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a precise finish following a dynamic run down the right flank. Just eight minutes later, Désiré Doué doubled the lead, capitalising on a swift team move. Doué added his second goal in the 63rd minute, becoming the youngest player to score twice in a Champions League final at 19 years and 362 days.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia extended the lead in the 74th minute with a powerful strike, and substitute Senny Mayulu sealed the emphatic win in the 86th minute, netting his first Champions League goal.

The triumph completed a historic treble for PSG, who had already secured the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France titles earlier in the season. This achievement made them the first French club to accomplish such a feat.

The final whistle sparked jubilant celebrations among PSG fans, both in Munich and back home in Paris. Thousands of supporters invaded the pitch, dismantling goalposts and tearing up sections of turf, while festivities in Paris led to clashes that required riot police intervention.

PSG’s dominant performance, achieved without former superstars like Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Kylian Mbappé, signalled a new era for the club. Manager Luis Enrique, who previously won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015, praised his youthful squad’s unity and resilience.

“This season we had many young players, and it’s not easy. So many of these players were decisive in the final. Defensively, we did well. Dembélé showed his leadership in how he defended,” said Enrique.

“I want to congratulate Inter – all the players and staff. They showed us respect at the end – it’s a lesson for everyone: you have to know how to lose. They stayed there until the end.”

With this landmark victory, PSG not only etched their name into European football history but also laid a strong foundation for future success on the continent.
