Arsenal have been crowned the 2025/26 English Premier League champions with one match still to play, ending a 22-year wait to once again lift one of world football’s most coveted trophies.

The title marks the Gunners’ 14th league triumph and caps off a remarkable campaign under manager Mikel Arteta. Arsenal will now turn their attention to the UEFA Champions League Final later this month, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary, in pursuit of a memorable league and European double.

Arsenal’s championship was officially confirmed on Tuesday night after nearest challengers Manchester City were held to a 1–1 draw by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. The result came a day after Arsenal secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Burnley.

The success sees Arteta become the first Arsenal manager since Arsène Wenger to guide the club to Premier League glory. Wenger’s legendary “Invincibles” side famously went unbeaten during the 2003/04 season, which was the last time Arsenal lifted the title.

Arsenal’s consistency throughout the campaign laid the foundation for their success. The London club has won 25 of its 37 league matches, drawn seven, and suffered only five defeats. After finishing runners-up in each of the previous three seasons, they finally delivered on their promise to reclaim top spot in English football.

A disciplined defensive structure proved key to the title-winning run. Arsenal kept 19 clean sheets during the season, while goalkeeper David Raya secured the Premier League Golden Glove award for a third consecutive year. Their defensive record has been the best in the league, while only Manchester City managed to score more than Arsenal’s tally of 69 goals.

The Gunners made an impressive start to the season, opening their historic 100th consecutive campaign in England’s top flight with a 1–0 victory over Manchester United. They went on to win nine of their opening 10 matches to climb to the summit of the table by early October.

Although Manchester City briefly overtook them on goal difference late in the season, Arsenal responded in champion fashion by winning four consecutive matches without conceding a goal to reclaim control of the title race.

This latest triumph moves Arsenal to 14 English league titles, leaving them behind only Manchester United and Liverpool in the all-time standings. It also adds a 32nd major trophy to the club’s illustrious history.

There could still be an even greater chapter to come. Arsenal now have the opportunity to complete one of the finest seasons in the club’s history when they travel to Budapest for just their second-ever Champions League final.

Standing in their way will be defending champions Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, 30 May, as Arsenal chase a maiden Champions League title and the chance to etch their names into football history.
