I'm very happy to be with the boys - Ebersohn | News Article
Robert Ebersohn - Cheetahs

The Toyota Cheetahs centre, Robert Ebersohn, completed his first day back at the team yesterday as they prepare to face Western Province in the Currie Cup.

Ebersohn made his return to the Cheetahs after playing rugby in France since 2013 where he played for among other, Montpellier and Castres.

The former Cheetahs captain, told OFM Sport that all went well and his conditioning is a priority.

“The conditioning is going well. I've got André Smith, the condition trainer and JP du Toit, the physio looking after and managing me.

“My goal is to get fit and strong as possible and as quick as possible to be ready to play.

“Day one went well and I'm very happy to be with the boys.”

Ebersohn, will, however, not be available for selection for this in Cape Town.

The coach Hawies Fourie in his turn told OFM Sport that the 32-year-old Ebersohn slotted in well, but they won't select him immediately.

“We will give him a chance to adapt and do some gym work. He couldn’t gym for the last two months and he has only been able to do some bodyweight training.

“He will have about two or three weeks of conditioning and then he will start playing.

“It's great to have a guy with his experience and work ethic in our team. He has a big role to play for us.”

Meanwhile, the Cheetahs will have to make do without the winger, Rosko Specman, for the clash in Cape Town after he was recalled to the Springboks.

It’s doubtful that Specman will play in the 3rd and final Test against the British & Irish Lions. He has been drafted back into the squad with the Rugby Championship fixtures against Argentina in mind.

Saturday’s Currie Cup game between Western Province and the Toyota Cheetahs will kick off at 14:30.
