It’s back to the training field for the Toyota Cheetahs following the conclusion of the Toyota Challenge in Bloemfontein.

On Friday evening the Cheetahs wrapped up their tournament as they comprehensively beat Baia Mare from Romania 54-5 at the Toyota Stadium.

The Cheetahs sole focus turns to the Currie Cup that will kick off in the middle of January.

The Cheetahs have identified areas of their game they still want to work on before the tournament gets underway.

The Cheetahs' coach, Hawies Fourie, confirmed that they still have two weeks of training ahead.

“We want to get some extra conditioning in, so gym work and we want to improve our skills and decision making.

“We want to play a fast game and we want to dominate possession. Those are the most important things for us.

“If we can retain the ball, keep the tempo high and get a quick ball at the breakdown then we are always dangerous. We've got the outside backs to finish off the opportunities.

“We've identified five things that we want to work on in the next two weeks.”

The Cheetahs are set to face the Griquas on 15 January in round one of the Currie Cup.
