South African wheelchair tennis star Kgothatso Montjane secured her fourth Grand Slam title on Friday night, winning the French Open women’s doubles at Roland Garros alongside her Japanese partner, Yui Kamiji.
The pair faced a tough challenge in the final against China’s Xiaohui Li and Ziying Wang. After dropping the first set, Montjane and Kamiji showed true grit and determination, fighting back to claim a hard-fought 4-6, 7-5 victory.
This latest triumph sees them reclaim the title they first won together at Roland Garros in 2023. The duo also captured the US Open and Wimbledon titles in the same year, cementing their status as one of the top partnerships in the sport.

In the women’s singles semi-finals, Montjane came up short against second seed Aniek van Koot, going down 4-6, 4-6. Van Koot, a three-time French Open champion, will now face Montjane’s doubles partner, Kamiji, in the singles final.
Earlier on Friday, in the men’s quad doubles final, South Africa’s Donald Ramphadi and his Turkish partner Ahmet Kaplan were beaten 6-3, 6-4 by Israel’s Guy Sasson and Niels Vink of the Netherlands.
