Julia Michaels responds to claims that Rebecca Black plagiarized her with new song Wasted Youth..

Julia Michaels, singer of hit song Issues and writer of hugelysuccessful singles for Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, has responded to claimsthat Rebecca Black plagiarised her with a new song.

Black, whofound worldwide success with her viral hit Friday in 2011, recently releasedher new EP RE/BL, featuring a song called Wasted Youth.

Listenerswere quick to pick up on the similarities between the track and Julia Michaels'recent single Uh-Huh, which Black had covered earlier this year. 

As notedby Stereogum, an early acoustic version of Black's song has avery different chorus to the official version, which was released lastweek. 


Picking up on the story, Michaels tweeted:

Michaels later responded to a fan who accused Black of plagiarism, saying: "Please do your research before accusing someone of plagiarism and artist theft. Fake accusations hurt everyone."

Michaels released Uh-Huh earlier this year as the second single from her Nervous System EP, while she's co-written Justin Bieber's Sorry and many of Selena Gomez's recent singles, including Hands To Myself and Bad Liar. Watch the Uh-Huh video below:
