The initiative is aimed at starting a dialogue between the roads agency, various government spheres, businesses, communities and other stakeholders.

SANRAL Eastern Region's Regional Manager, Dumisani Nkabinde, told OFM News the programme is one of several initiatives the roads agency is using to engage with the various stakeholders. Nkabinde added that the programme is also aimed at increasing their visibility to the people in various communities.

 “We want people to see what opportunities we present. We want to reach out to the people and we want them to advise us as SANRAL on road-related matters that are a concern to them,” Nkabinde said. He also added that SANRAL is using the programme as a platform to let stakeholders know what opportunities the roads agency is presenting to them. 

The Eastern Region manager announced the formation of a strategic transport forum in the Free State

“All transport entities will participate in the coordinated planning of initiatives and will speak with a single voice on transport issues,” Nkabinde said.

The forum will provide the province, various municipalities and other road entities with the opportunity to engage with each other and will allow them to unite in planning for road-related projects.
