Bloemfontein - Day one of the Mangaung treason trial could not get underway in the city's high court today as counsel for one of the two accused needs time to familiarize himself with the case.
Mark Trollip and Johan Prinsloo are accused of being part of a group which had planned to kill ANC leaders during the elective conference in Mangaung last year.
The trial had been set down for three weeks from today.
However, Trollip’s defence advocate Kenny Pretorius asked for a postponement because he was only informed last week that he would be representing Trollip and only received the docket late on Friday afternoon.
Neither the state nor Prinsloo’s defence opposed the request and Judge Mahube Molemela postponed the case to next Monday.
The two accused are facing charges of high treason and conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism.
