The Gift of the Givers Foundation (GOTG), Africa’s largest disaster relief organisation, will continue with its drought intervention project in the Northern Cape and surrounding areas.

This comes after GOTG has provided fodder, food parcels, and other items to communities in drought-riddled areas in the province. The foundation’s founder and chairman, Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, says its intervention started in Sutherland and surrounding areas in August 2017 and more requests for support from other areas are still pouring in.

He says the Northern Cape government’s decision to tackle the drought situation in the province by means of money to buy fuel for GOTG trucks delivering fodder to these areas, is encouraging.

This comes after the Northern Cape Premier, Sylvia Lucas, last year met with all relevant provincial government departments to step up their game and provide help.
