Katrina Nxangani was the winner in the Best Farm Worker division of the awards which was initiated in 1999. As part of the Women's Month celebrations in August, the department honours female entrepreneurs in the sector for their role in ensuring food security, poverty alleviation, job creation and economic growth. The Free State's 44-year-old Nxangani says it is a huge honour to be awarded for her hard work on nation level.

Nxangani has been working on the Allem Brothers' cattle farm, Vlakpan, for the past 23 years and is  passionate about the cattle herd and the responsibility that lies with her to take care of the animals.
