What is new in Farmer’s Weekly?─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 06:12 Fri, 20 Sep 2019
In our Friday insert, only on Before Dawn, OFM News’ Christal-Lize Muller speaks to Denine Erasmus about what to expect in their latest edition of Farmer’s Weekly…
She speaks about the magazine’s last issue of September, about a small bounce back in the wool market midst consumer uncertainty because of the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease which led to a decline in buying from the main buyer, which is China. In another story, Erasmus speaks about African Swine Flu which continues to spread with more confirmed reports in several countries around the world. As a result, the European Union (EU) has called in top experts to help tackle outbreaks in European countries. In a separate news story, the magazine reports about big plans which are underway for South Africa's broiler industry. In a production story the magazine highlights the smaller citrus harvest of 2019 which has come to an end. Experts are of the opinion the smaller harvest is because of the bearing nature of the trees. Expectations are, however, that the harvest will return to previous levels next year.
