What is new in Farmer’s Weekly? | News Article

In our Friday insert, only on Before Dawn, OFM News’ Christal-Lize Muller speaks to Denine Erasmus about what to expect in their latest edition of Farmer’s Weekly…

Erasmus provides details about the October 4 issue of Farmer's Weekly which focuses on a story about the National Defence Force which is on a drive to secure the Lesotho border. A journalist spoke to representatives from Free State Agriculture, that believes crime in the province, especially in that area, is exceptionally high compared to other parts of the province and country.  This includes various crimes, like theft and farm attacks.

In another article the magazine focuses on irrigation from the Tzaneen Dam in Limpopo which has been banned after the dam has dropped below 10% in its capacity. This hold disastrous consequences for citrus farmers relying heavily on water for irrigation purposes.

There is also an article about local red meat prices that have been declining on a year-on-year basis in South Africa. Economists say it is driven by consumers that are under economic pressure. They choose cheaper forms of protein by buying chicken instead of red meat.
