He directly approached the Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation, Lindiwe Sisulu, about this community’s struggle with water shortages.

Pitso Sekhoto raised the fact that communities between Frankfort, Cornelia and Tweeling have to struggle without water for weeks on end, with Sisulu at Agri SA’s Annual Conference, which recently took place in Pretoria. According to him, no water is available to these communities because of the closure of the Katse Dam because of a planned shutdown of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project tunnel system.

Sekhoto says not only farmers but communities too are affected while no provision was made for alternative water sources.
