What is new in Farmer’s Weekly?─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 06:41 Fri, 25 Oct 2019
In our Friday insert, only on Before Dawn, OFM News’ Christal-Lize Muller speaks to the Editor of Farmer’s Weekly, Denine Erasmus, about what to expect in their latest edition of the magazine…
She highlights the November 1 issue of the magazine. In the news section, the magazine focuses on Free State Agriculture, which has warned farmers in the province to be on their guard against fraudsters who are offering financial assistance. These perpetrators are targeting farmers who are under financial pressure by pretending to be able to assist them through offering loans to them. Farmers who are approached by these fraudsters must make sure they are registered with financial providers and farmers should double-check the facts with their banks.
In another news article, the magazine reports back from the farmworker conference that was held in Cape Town. The focus of the conference was on new technology that is coming into play in farming, increasingly putting the work of farmworkers in danger. In that regard it was highlighted the sector really needs to start working towards a plan of how labourers, who might be displaced due to the use of technology, will be absorbed back into the sector and not be left destitute.
There is also a news story on the latest movement in the egg market.
