Four people who died in tragic accident in NW to be laid to rest | News Article

Four of the 19 people who died during a road carnage on the R34 road between Bloemhof and Schweizer-Reneke in the North West, will be laid to rest on Saturday morning.

According to the North West provincial government's spokesperson, Brian Setswambung, one will be buried at Myra Village in the Greater Taung Local Municipality, while three others will be buried at various homesteads and gravesites around the Mamusa Local Municipality.

Setswambung says this is as per the wishes and requests of their families.

Nineteen people died following a tragic accident last weekend on the R34 road after a minibus taxi collided with a truck.

Only three people, including a child, survived the tragic accident out of the 22 occupants that were in the minibus.

Meanwhile, a mass funeral for the remaining 15 deceased will be held tomorrow in Schweizer-Reneke at the Ipelegeng Multipurpose Centre.

The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

The premier of the province, Bushy Maape, has since assembled a team of officials to assist the families of the 19 people who died in the horrific head-on collision last weekend.

He also visited the families of the deceased this week.

They were travelling from Bloemhof after attending a wedding anniversary of a relative. They are from Ipelegeng Township in Schweizer-Reneke in the Mamusa Local Municipality. Fourteen of them are from one family.
