Progress report on North West water, sanitation issues awaited─── BAMBATHA GIKO 12:17 Mon, 06 Feb 2023
North West municipalities and districts are yet to receive the progress report on the intervention of water and sanitation issues in the province.
This follows after the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu, and North West premier, Bushy Maape, received feedback from a task team established to address said issues. The committee is expected to meet on Monday 6 February 2023 in Anew Resort Hunters Rest in Rustenburg.
Earlier this year, Mchunu vowed to find a permanent solution to water challenges in the province. From 19 to 20 January 2023, he assessed the state of water and sanitation in Maquassi Hills and Ramoshere Moila Municipalities. Mchunu told OFM News they established a steering committee that will provide a detailed plan of what each municipality at district and local level should do in order to restore water in affected areas.

The spokesperson of the North West premier, Sello Taitai, previously told OFM News the strategy is supposed to focus on the inconsistent provision of basic services. It will also look at the availability of information on service delivery challenges and a system that will assist the government in addressing the identified issues.
