A man has died after being hit by two vehicles on the N8 road between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo Tuesday night.
Free State Police spokesperson Thabo Covane explained that on Tuesday 7 February 2023, at about 21:00, police went to the accident scene and were informed that the deceased was allegedly crossing the road when he was hit by a truck. It's alleged that after falling in the path of the oncoming traffic, a second vehicle ran over him.
Covane added that an hour later, another accident occurred, also on the N8 national road near Roodewal. According to him, a second vehicle was dispatched and on arrival, police found the body of an unknown female lying on the road. He explained that the deceased was run over by a white bakkie which was travelling from the eastern direction.
Covane said two cases of culpable homicide were opened at the Bloemspruit Police Station and he further called on community members who might assist in identifying the deceased to contact captain Lekhaoli Thito at 082-526-2691 or visit the nearest police station.
