Facebook: Executive Mayor, Conny Msibi/Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality(Facebook).

The Executive Mayor of the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality in the Free State, Conny Msibi, encouraged inmates at the Harrismith Correctional Centre to make their dreams a reality.

She spoke to them on Thursday after realising that most of the inmates commit more crimes inside the prison.

According to Msibi, the district is among the communities that experience high crime rates. "This doesn't sit well with me."

She added that there are a lot of opportunities available to them. "Some of you can still turn [your] dreams into reality, only if you understand that there's life after being arrested."

Most of the inmates are young and can always pursue their dreams of being positive role models to the youth in their communities.

Msibi urges inmates not to participate in any criminal activity that could take them back to prison after being released.

She asked them to look after themselves by starting their own businesses and create jobs when they return to the public.

Inmates promised to follow Msibi's advice when returning to their communities.
